Registered Nurses Jess Mills and Emma Donoghue have been awarded Cavell Star awards. An inspiring national awards programme, Cavell Star Awards are given to nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants who shine bright. The awards are granted to those who show incredible care to their colleagues, patients, and patients’ families.
Jess and Emma were nominated for the exceptional patient care shown and going the extra mile to support Cantourage Clinic patients, and they are the first nurses within a cannabis clinic to receive the award. In response to the awards Emma said:
"Jess is an amazing Nurse who constantly gives her utmost to ensure the best care and support for our patients. Jess and I are part of a wider clinic team who work extremely hard, enabling the clinical team to deliver the Cantourage Clinic high standards of care.
There is nothing more rewarding than supporting patients through treatment initiation to seeing the benefits of cannabis-based medicines or helping our patients to navigate the non-clinical issues linked to the use of cannabis-based medications, such as access to medicines at work.
It is a privilege to have a patient group that help us to learn from their experience, I hope being the first Nurses within a Cannabis Clinic to receive the Cavell Star, shines a spotlight on this area of Nursing and health care as an emerging speciality."
